Production Progress - 1st March
After recovering our music video production we had to collaborate fresh ideas as a group to incorporate new ideas to boost the "stranger" factor. Ideas such as leaves falling upwards was put down onto the mind map, a car crash scene to hint to the viewers what our character has gone through, along with a shot of our character staring into the river but his reflection cannot be seen. As soon as we had these fresh ideas down we booked out a camera and filmed the scenes needed to increase our grade.

Final Cut Feedback on Music Video
This was our final showing of our music video where as a group we'd gather feedback for the last time to make it the best we can, hopefully gaining a higher grade with the use of the constructive criticism.
Here is the feedback gathered.

Feedback on Ancillary Task: Digipak
After taking the pictures for the digipak ands designing them for our final digipak design (which can be viewed on my blog) our class got together to gather feedback of what we've done so far. Here's the feedback we got on our digipak:
Photographic images; framing, focus, camera angle, lighting, colour, background and mise en scene
Photographic images; framing, focus, camera angle, lighting, colour, background and mise en scene
- Sharp, well lit and well framed image - the headless model in keeping with the "indie" genre.
- Interesting mix of props - wealth vs. low life brick wall background.
- Strong colour.
- Font appropriate
- Size and layout are okay.
- All good - figure and braces succeed in drawing the viewers attentiom.
- Style and choice of track names suggest an "indie" audience, young male?
- Strong impact from cover.
- Inside faces lack detail - add track lyrics etc...

Production Progress - 9th February
Today the braces/suspenders had arrived and seeing as Jon wasn't in due to illness, Ashley and I decided to crack on with our side of the ancillary task, the digipak. When trying on the braces, our chosen model for the braces broke them, but thankfully we bought a second pair for such an incidence. After this event I was elected to model the braces. The images we took were located by Fanshawe Swimming Pool where a wall with slight hints of graffiti can be found. We found this as a perfect location as its not to attention seeking but fits the background idea.
The images needed were of me facing the camera, face on for the front cover, and one of me with my back to the camera facing the wall for the back cover where the song names will be listed.
Instead of leaving the inside of the digipak empty, we decided on capturing an image which helps represent our character on the cover. Thanks to the recent winter weather, a local field had been covered in snow where we placed a cigar on the ground, seen in the characters mouth on the front cover. The cigar was placed at a certain angle so song lyrics can be applied next to the image on the digipak.

Production Progress - 2nd Feburary
We began today's by drawing up a "plan of action". This plan included details on which piece of work that needed to be started and preferably finished. The pieces of work that needed be worked were the music video, website design and a rough digipak design. Jon began on the music video production and Ashley and I carried on from the website design from the previous lesson. This involved using ideas and influences from our website PowerPoint of other bands webpages.
After completing the website design, the whole group gathered equipment to go on a photo shoot for the digipak. Whilst walking round school we looked for "rough" looking background. The best idea we thought up was a simple wall background as it keeps the buyer focused on the character.Whilst walking around we found an near exact idea of what we want our character to look like on the front cover (bottom picture).
The images below were ones taken during the photo shoot for the front of the digipak cover around the Chauncy School.

Digpak Production
After printing off and cutting out the template design for our digipak we created a design board to post ideas to show the whole group. The final design was brought together by Ashley who had seen a similar kind of digpak which "tells a story". The mood board gathered ideas for colours to be included, pictures and font of the text to be used. Here are some pictures of the first draw up.
Production Progress - 26th January
Today's lesson began with being provided with a list of tasks which needed to be completed by the end of the lesson to make sure we're on track with our music video production and the ancillary tasks. We began by working on the website research PowerPoint production, looking at similar bands websites for inspiration. We also produced a rough design for our digipak from the website I discovered last week.

Second Cut Feedback
Very similar to our first cut feedback, the whole class gathered round the table to watch our production, providing more constructive criticism and to see whether or not we took our last feedback session into account.
Framing a Shot
Holding Shot Steady
- Slow zoom - too unsteady.
Framing a Shot
- Photographs no clear enough - need to flash into close up.
- Also need to zoom into the tv, focusing on the crash scene.
- Paper scene needs to be over Ashley's shoulder.
Appropriate material
- Face clear Jams sequence - very disgusting, well done.
Selecting Mise en Scene
- Car park is a poor location - empty street needed.
- Ashley horror face sequence - good - keep edits short.
Editing for meaning
- More quick shots of car accident.
- Different transition to dead Ash - gradual colour transition.
Varied shot transitions, caption and other FX
- Some very good effects - face, airplanes, ECG monitor, leaves falling upwards and James's blank face.

Production Progress - Thursday 12th
Carrying on with our ancillary task, we began research on digipaks and websites designs of similar bands to the song we're presenting. Whilst looking through the internet for ideas on the digipak I discovered a website which allowed us to download different digipak templates, becoming a very useful webpage for future designs of our digipak. Here is the link to the digpak template web page... http://www.duplication.ca/printspecs/digipack.htm During my research, Jon was focusing on the webpage by looking at different bands with a similar genre to ours. By doing this it will give us ideas on what we want on our bands webpage.
Production Progress - Monday 9th
Today we began the planning of our ancillary tasks. The first task our group decided to create was a digipak of the bands album, featuring the single our music video "Stranger things have happened". The second choice was to create a homepage for our band. As a group we chose these tasks based around our skills and ideas. After the tasks had been chosen, a mood board for task was drawn up so we could post our own ideas onto ito for the whole group too see. This would
then allow us to pick the best options from each of the sections on the mood boards.
